DIRECTOR / VP BUSINESS OPERATIONS

KnipBio, a venture backed, high-growth biotechnology startup based in the Boston metropolitan area, seeks a high-level operations executive to join our passionate team to complement the management team running day-to-day business operations and helping to scale the company.

The Director / VP Operations will be responsible for ensuring that cost effective operations and infrastructures are in place to support the staff and business operations. We are a B2B, sales biotechenology company touching multiple, large industries. The successful candidate will have demonstrated skill sets in BizOps, logistics/operations, and/or scaling tech (especially B2B). Agriculture, animal nutrition and/or biotechnology experience is a huge plus. This candidate has the potential to grow into COO.

Some of the possible job functions include:

Collaborate with CEO for:

  • Business modeling
  • Expansion strategy

Setting up processes and frameworks to scale the company, including:

  • Manufacturing operations
    • Optimize production and manufacturing of existing products
    • Ensure product manufacturing supporting partnerships
  • Sales
    • Ensure contracts and timelines are met with high customer satisfaction

Business Operations, including:

  • Operations/ Logistics:
    • Define scope, goals and deliverables for projects between company units including R&D and Manufacturing
    • Facilitate and streamline manufacturing process transfer and delivery to customer
  • Manufacturing according to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Some review of legal documents, including government compliance  
  • Manage operation budget including modeling production cost
  • Developing & maintaining team culture

Fundraising Support:

  • Investor Research
  • Presentations/ Pitch deck preparation to prospective investors

Skills & Experience:

Passion for KnipBio’s mission, plus:

  • 5-10 years of BizOps, operations and/or consulting experience
  • Demonstrate a solid background in biotechnology with an emphasis on manufacturing and technical sales
  • You enjoy a collaborative environment while driving projects to completion independently and creatively
  • BA, preferably in business or operations. MBA a plus
  • Experienced project manager who can juggle a lot of moving parts with strong, fast executional / operational roll-out skills
  • Detailed oriented
  • Proactive / takes initiative; ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Previous startup experience preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of large-scale farming, food manufacturing and commercialization and/or aquaculture industry is a big plus
